Irish Music

The Taverners have built up a fine reputation for playing and singing Irish music both in the UK and abroad. With a vast repertoire of tunes and songs, we are always delighted to play at any function requiring an Irish theme including Ceilidh song and dances, pub Irish evenings (St Patrick's day a speciality) or at corporate or festival entertainments.

· Traditional Songs

As well as playing all of the well known Irish songs, such as Whiskey in the Jar, Wild Rover, Fields of Athenrye, Fairytale of New York, Tell me Ma, and many, many more, we have a wide range of traditional Irish songs particularly relevant to individual areas in Ireland. A comprehensive play list is available on request.

· Tunes

The band plays a wide range of toe-tapping Irish tunes either for listening or dancing. These include jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas and waltzes. The tunes are authentic and again, a play list is available on request.

· The Players

Our experienced musicians double up on a wide range of instruments including fiddles, pipe/flute, accordian, mandolin, banjo, guitars, keyboards, double bass and boram.

· The Craick

It's all about having a good time with ballads and songs to be tistened to or for joining in, tunes for dancing or stamping your feet and lots of humour thrown in. Who was it that said that God (or was it the devil) gave the Irish the best tunes?
